I’ve only seen Los muertos and Liverpool myself, but your feelings mirror my own. Alonso seems to me to be perhaps the most modernist of directors today, if that makes sense. Or at least tied with Joe. Together they challenge the way we experience films. I’ve a feeling Alonso’s work opens up more and more with subsequent viewings. Which of these have you watched more than once?
